One Day. One Chorus. One Big Sound.
One Great Cause.
Key of Q, the Hudson Valley’s own LGBTQ+ & allied a cappella chorus, is excited to announce its second One Day Chorus, taking place on April 25th at the Unicorn Bar in Kingston NY. This community event is for singers who love to sing and want to be a part of the gang for just one afternoon! Participants will experience the joy of choral singing – no audition and no weekly commitment required. You don’t have to be able to read music to participate.
Attendees will join the members of Key of Q to learn a single song together in full four-part a cappella harmony, culminating in a joyful, collective sing-out. The emphasis is on community, connection, and the simple thrill of making music together.
There’s no pressure to get it perfect, just great harmonies, great vibes, and a room full of people who love singing. The afternoon is paired with cocktails or mocktails, plenty of laughter, and a celebratory atmosphere that reflects Key of Q’s inclusive and welcoming spirit.
Over the course of the afternoon, we’ll:
- Break the ice with some warm ups and breathing exercises
- Start learning the song in sections
- Build in mid-afternoon breaks- while some voice parts work on their specific parts of the song, the other voice parts grab some refreshments and quality time with their fellow singers.
- Regroup and put all the pieces together
- Run the full song and experience the joy of making music together
Proceeds from the One Day Chorus will benefit Trans Closet of the Hudson Valley, a project by and for members of the local trans community, providing clothes, gender-affirming supplies, and other resources without question or cost.
Whether you’re a seasoned singer or someone who just loves to sing, the One Day Chorus offers a unique chance to raise your voice in harmony, meet new people, support a good cause and be part of something special – all in one afternoon. Please join us!
